Understand more about the history of the Ironbridge Gorge and discover why, as a World Heritage Site, it ranks alongside the Pyramids and the Taj Mahal in its importance in world history. Located in a Gothic-style warehouse the Museum of the Gorge provides a fascinating insight into the history of the Ironbridge Gorge and is a great place to start your visit to the area. • The whole family will enjoy viewing what life was like in the Gorge in 1796 with the help of a giant 12 metre long model. Spot a Royal carriage crossing the Iron Bridge, the cargo on a Severn Trow and a tiny figure toiling in a coalmine. • Watch a film explaining the area’s history and discover why the Gorge was made a World Heritage Site • Discover more about the area using interactive computers • Brass rubbings are great fun for children • Take a look at local iron products including the switchgear from a 1920s power station

The Ironbridge Gorge is on the River Severn, 5 miles (8km) south of Telford town centre in Shropshire. Take junction 4 or junction 6 off the M54. Follow brown and white signs to Ironbridge Gorge. For the Museum of the Gorge follow signs for Ironbridge Museums.
