The Sheelin Antique Irish Lace Museum is located in the scenic village of Bellanaleck in Fermanagh's Lakelands. Rosemary Cathcart, inspired by the fact that this area has a long tradition of lace-making, began collecting soon after marrying and moving to the area. She now has a truly stunning collection, and all the finest examples are on permanent display in her Museum. The Museum traces the history of Lace-making in Ireland, and conveys to the visitor the importance of the industry to Ireland as a whole and to Irish women in particular. Rosemary has twice already won the Gulbenkian Award for Most Improved Voluntary Museum. This is a very prestigious award presented annually to entrants from all over Ireland. Visitors have the opportunity to take a tour of the museum and purchase items of antique lace from the museum shop.
