The Maritime Archaeology Trust promotes interest, research and knowledge of maritime archaeology and heritage in Great Britain with core activities concentrated in the counties of Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and the adjacent South Coast areas. The Trust run a programme of research led fieldwork involving professional archaeologists, volunteers and students. The results of this work are widely disseminated through our programme of educational initiatives including lectures, seminars and publications. Events and activities are provided throughout the year for the Friends of the Trust. The Maritime Archaeology Trust also run the Underwater Archaeology Centre at Fort Victoria, near Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. Inside you will discover submerged secrets beneath the waters of the Hampshire and Wight area from shipwrecks to submerged pre-historic landscapes. Artifacts have been brought to the surface by the Trust's maritime archaeology team. Here you can see them in first aid conservation, watch divers work under water in our projection room and discover the military history of the Fort.
