Scotland's Oldest Free Lending Library, established by David, 3rd Lord Madertie and located in a tranquil woodland setting close by the River Earn in Perthshire. The Library is run today by the Mortification of the Library, a trust set up on the death of the founder, and although it ceased to lend books in 1968, opens its doors and books to visitors from across the world each year.

Opening Hours:

The Library and the Chapel are open daily (except Monday and Tuesday) from 10.00 am to 12.45 pm and 2.00 pm to 4.45 pm. Sunday opening 2.00 pm until 4.00 pm. Groups are welcome at any time by prior arrangement. From November 1st until the end of February the Library will only be open by appointment for parties or groups.


Adult: £5.00 Children U15 with parents free.Group prices by arrangement.
