Museums Northumberland presents ‘Northumberland Folk’, a series of four new exhibitions by illustrator Jonny Hannah. Discover some of Northumberland’s strangest stories and most curious characters through Jonny’s extraordinary paintings and prints. The vast array of Northumbrian stories you will see illustrated in the exhibitions have been drawn from our museum collections, inspired by our heritage buildings and contributed to the project by members of our communities. Inspired by a real shop that once stood on Berwick High Street, this Emporium’s wares are illustrated Northumbrian tales. Discover some of Northumberland’s northernmost folk and folklore including a strong-man and strong women, bear beer, herring girls and a bloodthirsty vampire. Don’t miss the free daily Northumberland Folk Spotlight tour (10 mins) at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm And if you’re inspired to take a little bit of Northumberland Folk home, then please visit the museum gift shop or you can buy original pieces of artwork, limited edition prints and gifts in our online shop.
