Explosion!, The Museum of Naval Firepower is a multi-million pound interactive museum set in the historic former Royal Navy armaments depot at Priddy’s Hard, on the Gosport side of Portsmouth Harbour. Telling the story of naval firepower from the days of gunpowder to modern missiles with an unique collection which includes the Red Beard atom bomb, the Exocet missile and the Schwartzkopff torpedo. The two-hour tour of the museum includes a stunning multi- media film show set in the original 18th century gunpowder vault, the latest computer interactives and hands-on exhibits. Alongside the dramatic displays, Explosion! explores the story of the many designers, makers and thousands of female munitions workers who supplied the Royal Navy. Refreshments are available in the waterside Coffee Shop. Guaranteed to blow your socks off!

April to October, open daily (10am until 5pm, last admission to the galleries at 4pm). November – March, open Saturday and Sunday only (10am until 4pm, last admission to the galleries at 3pm).

Travel directions:

By Road: M27 to junction 11. Follow A32 to Gosport and brown tourist signs to Explosion! Museum at Priddy's Hard. By Rail: Mainline route London to Portsmouth Harbour. Take the frequent ferry service across to Gosport (3mins). From the Ferry at Gosport, turn right and follow the Millennium Promenade to Explosion! at Priddy’s Hard (20mins walk) or taxi to Forton Lake Bridge (3mins).
