Kent Police Museum

Due to the coronavirus, many museums and galleries across the country are closed. Please check their websites and social media channels for up to date information about reopening dates and times.

The Historic Dockyard

Kent Police Museum wa started by Retired Inspector John Fail in 1973, in an office at Kent Police HQ in Maidstone. In 1992 the offices were required by C.I.D. and the museum artefacts were boxed and stored until 1994 when the Dockyard Trust offered the use of an old Boiler House in the Historic Dockyard. The museum was opened on 26th July 1994 by the Lord Lieutenant of Kent. The museum contains photographs, documents, uniforms and equipment, motorcycles and pedal cycles, along with weapons used in crime. The museum is available for outside organisations to visit at evening times, out of hours, guided by the Curator.
