Discover, explore and enjoy award winning Tullie House, where historic collections, contemporary art and family fun are brought together in one impressive museum and art gallery. Close to the border of England and Scotland and the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall and within striking distance of the breathtaking Lade District, Tullie House is a meeting point for history, nature and art in one of Britain’s most fascinating regions and has been inspiring visitors for more than 120 years! There are four fantastic galleries to explore, which will take you on a journey through the ages from present day right back to the early Romans and beyond. There is plenty to see and do at Tullie House. Set in beautiful gardens, Old Tullie House is a Grade 1 listed building, and is home to a nationally important collection of Pre-Raphaelite art. Many features of the 17th century architecture still remain, such as the beautiful Jacobean staircase. Our archaeological collection features objects from periods as early as the Old Stone Age, through the Roman, Celt, Viking and Middle Ages. Our large award winning family friendly Garden Restaurant offers a delicious selection of home cooking from scones and cakes to lunches and afternoon teas. Round off your day with a visit to our shop which is the perfect place to find unique and locally crafted goods and gifts.
